Helping build a better network of heavy vehicle rest areas across Australia.
Every driver deserves a safe place to stop.
Every heavy vehicle driver deserves safe, accessible and well-designed places to stop and manage fatigue. Yet there is currently no central source of driver-generated information about Australia's heavy vehicle rest areas.
While maps can tell you where a rest area is located, they can't tell you whether it feels safe, whether there's enough room to park, or whether it provides the facilities drivers actually need.
That's the gap we're aiming to fill.
Why are we doing this?
The National Heavy Vehicle Rest Area Audit Program has been created to build a driver-led evidence base that identifies what is working well, where improvements are needed, and where future investment can deliver the greatest benefit.
